Yep. The avatar uploader is (still) giving me problems. IT WON'T GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT sob

Every time I try to upload an avatar, it gives me this and then reverts to the avatar I have now:


Maybe it's only me. `.` If it is I fail. Like horribly.

I have tried deleting the avatar before uploading, renaming the avatar I'm trying to upload, copying and pasting and then renaming, putting a board-supplied avatar in place before uploading, changing the extension, and every combination of those.

I'm having trouble reproducing the problem, so I'll need more information.

• What is the file format or extension of the image you are trying to upload?
• How large is the file you are trying to use?
• What are the dimensions of the image you are trying to use?

Alternatively, upload it somewhere else and provide a link so I can look at it.

I've tested with your old avatar and new avatar and I am still unable to reproduce this.

Since nobody else has complained and other users (including myself) are able to change avatars, I believe this may have started when I fixed this for you last time.

As such, I have cleared all avatar-related information on your account and the server filesystem. At very least, it should upload now. Hopefully you will not have any trouble changing in the future.

Huh? Try refreshing the page (hold SHIFT and press the refresh button on the browser window).

It totally just lied to me and showed the older avatar, even when going back to retry a different named one. o.O But now it's normal? I don't know. ;-;

Yeah, that's because of how the files are saved. The avatar is always your user id dot something. So if your avatar is a PNG file, it is 67.png. If you upload a new PNG avatar, it is also 67.png. Your browser won't load the new version unless your force it to erase the cache, or wait until the cache expires in a day or two.
