Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
A few days ago, with the assistance of our User Services Division, we have completed the new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
If you haven't read these, you probably want to. The policies are very similar to those found in the previous Terms of Service document, but are more comprehensive with less specificity, allowing for broader coverage. In other words, our rules have changed and you should really go find out what they say since you're agree to them every time you connect.
Both of these documents are written to cover the IRC network and only cover a limited portion of the web site.
Upcoming Web Site Features
I've decided to go ahead with the additional services integration with the web site. Some of the things I'll be including for end-users are:
- ChanServ
- Topic / AppendTopic
- Modes (including those that affect users)
- Access / XOP
- NickServ
- Set
- Password
- Language
- URL
- ICQ
- Greet
- Release
- Ghost
- Set
- StatServ
- Monitor / Stop Monitoring (Channel founders only)
- HostServ / vHostServ
- Instant virtual host assignment (similar to #vhost functionality)
- MemoServ
- Send
- Read
- Delete
- Sinsira-Web-Site
- Quotation database access similar to that of Karappo
- Got an idea for this bot? Post it on the suggestions forum!
Since that list is rather lengthy, it will take quite a while for the functionality to be added entirely. Most likely, it will be several weeks before any of it appears on the network; extensive testing is done to ensure secure, bug-free operation of all new features before they are implemented in the live, production servers.
The last top-level bullet, Sinsira-Web-Site, is an experimental bot on the IRC network. It is used as a gateway for passing information between IRC, IRC services, other bots, and the web site. Right now, functionality is very limited: some user activity messages are posted to #general, StatServ's statistics may be used for various kinds of information such as last-connected status of a nick or mask, and very generic help messages on several topics can be found by using hard-coded help commands.
If you've got any ideas for some new features for the bot, post them in the suggestions forum. All of the bot's abilities will be either network-related or web site-related (that's right, no Google, weather, FML, or other external or unnecessary commands). If you have any questions about the bot, please contact me (Kabaka) either via MemoServ, query, or #Help (say my name).
