The Official Sinsira Wiki

E-mail Print PDF

That's right, we now have our own wiki! To visit it, click "Wiki" in the top menu bar.

After several hours of reading through MediaWiki code and the code of a Wiki integration extension available on the Joomla web site, several problems were overcome, and we were able to seamlessly integrate MediaWiki with this web site. Everything takes place here, on sinsira.net, inside the same layout you see now, just like with our forums. That means you don't have to create a new account somewhere else or worry about finding your way back here.

There are a few small issues that we'll work out as times passes:

  • The theme does not facilitate media upload. As we already have a gallery, though, this should not be a big deal.
  • The navigation menu is hidden. We will be integrating a navigation menu into the main site theme rather than use the MediaWiki sidebar. This should look a lot better.
  • There is no "easy" way to search for or create a new page. Right now, you have to type it in the URL where the page title goes. We'll fix that soon!

We hope you enjoy this new feature! While there are no specific rules governing its use at the moment, we will be writing some guidelines and including them in the Wiki itself. In general, you may write about anything that seems at all relevant to Sinsira, DaeZig, its communities, and the people within it.

Users should create their own User:Username pages rather than create a page titled with their user name. For noteworthy figures, such as our Empress, an exception may be made.

All guests may view the Wiki, but only logged-in users may view it. Since it is fully integrated, just be sure you're logged in to the main site with your NickServ user name and password!

Farewell, Diamond

E-mail Print PDF

Disappointing news! Diamond, the sever that joined the Sinsira IRC network just a few days back has decided to leave us.

Their reasons were various and understandable. The staff and users of that network will continue to support the Zaxanat DaeZig Zae even though they have left its capital network!

With this loss, we have also lost our IPv6 server. So if you were using ipv6.sinsira.net to connect, please resume using irc.sinsira.net on IPv4. Sorry for any inconvenience that might cause.

Welcome, Fantasy-Anime!

Sinsira and DaeZig welcome Fantasy Anime's IRC server to the Sinisra IRC network!

With this new server Sinsira has additional stability, greater performance, great additions to staff, and a larger community. The new server has joined as Diamond.

Interactive Story

E-mail Print PDF

Sinsira now has its own never ending story!

No, not the movie. This is better -- it's an interactive story written by you and other members of the community. Just click "Interactive Story" on the left side to get started.

How it works

Start reading. At the end of each chapter, you'll find two choices. Each choice leads to a new chapter. That means the story branches off in two directions at each chapter.

Eventually, you'll hit a spot where one of the choices leads to nothing -- nobody has written anything for that choice! Now it's your turn to decide where the story goes.

By that point, you've probably got some idea where you expect or want things to go. Disregard your writing talent and just start typing! This is very casual. Think of it like posting on the forums, except it is a forum just for this, and it isn't linear.

Since each chapter results in another split in the story, you can be either very detailed or very brief. Longer chapters (a few paragraphs or more) will mean that the plot develops more and the story seems less frantic. Short chapters (a few sentences) will get quicker replies since the atmosphere is more casual, and will generally stick to one path -- the path with more action.

A Useful Tip!

Click the "Go to Outline" link at the bottom of any page to see a map of the story and quickly jump to any chapter. It's the easiest way to navigate!

Developments in Regulations and Communications

Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

A few days ago, with the assistance of our User Services Division, we have completed the new Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

If you haven't read these, you probably want to. The policies are very similar to those found in the previous Terms of Service document, but are more comprehensive with less specificity, allowing for broader coverage. In other words, our rules have changed and you should really go find out what they say since you're agree to them every time you connect.

Both of these documents are written to cover the IRC network and only cover a limited portion of the web site.

Upcoming Web Site Features

I've decided to go ahead with the additional services integration with the web site. Some of the things I'll be including for end-users are:

  • ChanServ
    • Topic / AppendTopic
    • Modes (including those that affect users)
    • Access / XOP
  • NickServ
    • Set
      • Password
      • Language
      • URL
      • E-Mail
      • ICQ
      • Greet
    • Release
    • Ghost
  • StatServ
    • Monitor / Stop Monitoring (Channel founders only)
  • HostServ / vHostServ
    • Instant virtual host assignment (similar to #vhost functionality)
  • MemoServ
    • Send
    • Read
    • Delete
  • Sinsira-Web-Site
    • Quotation database access similar to that of Karappo
    • Got an idea for this bot? Post it on the suggestions forum!

Since that list is rather lengthy, it will take quite a while for the functionality to be added entirely. Most likely, it will be several weeks before any of it appears on the network; extensive testing is done to ensure secure, bug-free operation of all new features before they are implemented in the live, production servers.

The last top-level bullet, Sinsira-Web-Site, is an experimental bot on the IRC network. It is used as a gateway for passing information between IRC, IRC services, other bots, and the web site. Right now, functionality is very limited: some user activity messages are posted to #general, StatServ's statistics may be used for various kinds of information such as last-connected status of a nick or mask, and very generic help messages on several topics can be found by using hard-coded help commands.

If you've got any ideas for some new features for the bot, post them in the suggestions forum. All of the bot's abilities will be either network-related or web site-related (that's right, no Google, weather, FML, or other external or unnecessary commands). If you have any questions about the bot, please contact me (Kabaka) either via MemoServ, query, or #Help (say my name).
